Chevrolet built the 2001 Z06 on the hardtail body, took the weight out and put the LS6 in, good for 385 hp. The factory allocated this one to Karl Chevrolet in Ankeny, Iowa, but Champion Chevrolet brought it 1,500 miles west to Reno, Nevada, to meet demand for a first-year car and delivered it new on September 17, 2000 with 25 miles showing.
Since then the LS6 has been bored and stroked to 6.0 liters and supercharged with a ProCharger F-1D, and on a DynaPack hub dyno it made 930.67 hp. Cars documented this well don't usually end up supercharged. The odometer shows 35,978 miles and the title is clean. Champion's dealer addendum, the original window sticker and the warranty booklet that records the sale are all still in the file.
Engine
A ProCharger F-1D centrifugal supercharger feeds the 6.0-liter V8 through a BBK 80 mm throttle body and a FAST composite intake manifold. A Turbosmart bypass valve sits on the charge pipe, and Snow water/methanol injection cools the charge. FAST rails and braided AN lines carry the fuel, and an Aeromotive sensor watches pressure. The exhaust is Borla. MSD Street Fire coils handle ignition, and the tune is HP Tuners on the original GM computer. The pull that made 930.67 hp also recorded 679.93 lb-ft of torque.
Exterior
The black Z06 interior keeps its factory seats, ordered new with the memory package, and a full roll cage has gone in around them. A pod on the driver's A-pillar holds an AEM wideband air/fuel gauge and an Auto Meter boost gauge.

Chassis and Transmission
That torque goes through a built T-56 six-speed with a short-throw shifter, and the rear end runs 4.11 gears where the car left Bowling Green with 3.42s. Brakes are Wilwood, with red six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear.
