Ford built the Heritage Edition for one model year only, honoring 55 years since the 1967 GT500, and Brittany Blue Metallic was only available on the Heritage Edition cars. With just over 2,000 miles on it, it's not gone far past it's break-in period. The supercharged Predator V8 and seven-speed dual-clutch make it one of the fastest Mustangs Ford has ever built, and the Heritage Edition package makes it perfect for any enthusiast's collection.
Exterior
The Brittany Blue paint on this car was a Heritage-only color, which separates it from every other 2022 GT500 at a glance. Its vinyl Wimbledon White stripes start at the splitter, cross the vented hood and carry over the roof, with GT500 logos worked into the rocker stripes. The front fascia opens wide to feed the cooling system, the infamous coiled cobra sits on the nose, and a Shelby specific splitter helps keep the car planted. The car is equpped with gloss black multi-spoke wheels with red calipers.
Interior
The cabin is finished in ebony leather with gray accents and contrast stitching across the dash and console. The steering wheel is adorned with the iconic shelby logo, with solid metal shift paddles behind it and controls for audio, cruise control and drive modes at your fingertips. The center stack houses the infotainment system, temperature controls, the Engine Start button, and the gear selector. Shelby-embroidered floor mats protect the carpet.
Under The Hood
The supercharged 5.2-liter Predator makes 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft. It's hand-built and one the most powerful engines Ford has put in a production Mustang. Its cross-plane crank is what gives it the deep V8 tone rather than the higher-pitched wail of the GT350's flat-plane Voodoo, and it pulls to a 7,500 rpm redline. Everything goes rearward through a seven-speed dual-clutch that swaps gears in under 100 milliseconds.
Performance
MotorTrend recorded 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and ran the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds at 131.6 mph. Top speed is 180 mph with the factory limiter in place. MagneRide adaptive suspension keeps the car composed through corners, and the 16.5-inch Brembo rotors up front pulled it to a stop from 60 mph in 100 feet during that same test.
Collector-Ready Extras
The car is accompanied by a set of Shelby-themed keychains, the original Shelby GT500 owner's box and literature (including the window sticker), and the distinctive supercharger-shaped GT500 presentation piece.
