Carroll Shelby would have turned 100 in 2023, and Shelby American marked it with a run of 100 Centennial cars. This is one of them, and it has 251 miles on it.
Starting life as a Ford Mustang GT, Shelby reworked it from the ground up: adjustable track tuned suspension, more aggressive aero, a Borla exhaust with a low, mechanical voice, a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 rated at 750 horsepower, and a Shelby specific hood.
Finished in Carbonized Grey Metallic with dark dual racing stripes running nose to tail, and the cabin carries anniversary details throughout. For a collector who wants a modern Shelby with real rarity and almost no miles, this is a hard combination to find.
Exterior
Finished in Carbonized Gray Metallic with dark dual racing stripes running over the hood, roof, and decklid, the car sits low on an incredibly muscular wide-body stance. Up front, the grill is agressive but not over the top, with blacked out Shelby lettering tucked into the lower half. Near the ground sits a large front splitter to keep the front glued to the road at speed, and a distict shelby hood (complete with a Centennial anniversary emblem) completes the look. The wheels are 20"x11" forged aluminum monoblocks wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Interior
Sliding into the driver’s seat immediately reveals a cockpit that balances track-ready purpose with premium comfort. The interior is trimmed in premium black leather and alcantara, and the seats are the factory upgraded Recaro buckets, though Shelby modified those too. With only 251 miles on the odometer, every single surface still looks and feels fresh and unused.
The Heart of the Beast
Popping the hood reveals the crown jewel of this build. Shelby bolted on a Whipple supercharger to the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, complete with Shelby badging. The setup forces enough air into the engine to punch out a mind-boggling 800 horsepower and create's a glorious sound from a custom, Borla exhaust system. Complete with a Shelby-capped coolant reservoir and incredibly tidy plumbing, the entire engine compartment is pristine, exactly how you’d want a high-caliber machine like this to be presented.
Transmission and Driving Dynamics
All that massive power runs to the rear wheels through a lightning-fast 10-speed automatic transmission and a 3.55 limited-slip axle. To ensure the car actually handles the power rather than just fighting it, Shelby fitted a fully adjustable suspension setup explicitly designed to keep the chassis flat through the corners.
